Vitebsk State Medical University was Established in 1934 in the city of Vitebsk. Officially recognized by Ministry of Health of the Republic of Belarus. Vitebsk is one of the 6 administrative regions of Belarus and it borders Russia, Lithuania and Latvia. Since it is enroute to other countries, it has very well developed road infrastructure.
Vitebsk is also known as the Belarusian land of lakes because it has more than 2800 lakes and 500 rivers. More than a third of the region is forest. Approximately 60% of these forests are centuries-old coniferous woods. According to Belarusian official site, Vitebsk has a population of 1.18 Million among which most are Belarusian and a small proportion of ethnic Russians.
